auger motor mounting

Postby fastfire9 on Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:21 pm

Could I get a picture of how the auger motor is supposed to look when installed. Particularly the spacers on the shaft with the set screws. I believe my old one was not installed correctly from the factory as it was always loose. It finally burned out and now when I installed the new one it keeps falling off. ajschallock@hotmail.com

Hi fastfire9,
I have attached a picture of the auger motor bracket installed. Remember when you install the auger motor to align the flat shaft on auger to the allen screw on locking collar and then tighten the allen screw on collar.

That picture shows a different type of mounting system than mine. I have the four skinny posts that extend to the motor.

The four pieces of threaded rod should go into the four holes in the motor housing. If the motor keeps falling off, it is almost certainly because the set screw in the collar is not tightened down enough. Like Technical says, make sure it is lined up with the flat spot on the motor shaft, and tighten it down.

I have two locking collars which are on the back side of the 3" square plate. The rods are only threaded on one end so the motor can slide off of the none threaded end. Even with the locking collars tightened there is nothing holding the motor and shaft from sliding backwards. A schematic showing the positions of the components would be helpful.

Hi fastfire9,
We do not have a picture of that installation. You should have four bolts and nuts. The bolts should be a threaded bolt, 8/23 grade 5 3 1/2" long.
